Back on Track

As usual, we went out to celebrate Ben's birthday. It was a big surprise when we got a decent table. We arrived a little later than usual and someone was already sitting in the traditional worst table.
The biggest development for Ben this month is that he can now stand up on his own. He still does the army crawl. Ben's second tooth showed up early in the month. His diet has expanded to include real peaches, yogurt, and pancakes. Today, he ate a little bit of blueberry muffin. He also tried pasta, but wasn't interested.

The Inhaler

Ben hadn't been eating too well at dinner this week, but boy did that change tonight. He ate a whole jar of green beans and some diced peaches and some yogurt. Ben also started scarfing down a pancake! These were home-made pancakes, so I guess this was technically Ben's first home cooked meal.

Now You Tell Me?

A new study shows that little Benny is going to set us back nearly 300 large and that doesn't include college. I know a couple little boys who are going to owe daddy a yacht before all is said and done, or at least a really sweet RV. This information pretty much seals Ben's fate as the baby of the family. I am not sure why the government publishes this data. It only serves to drive down fertility rates, which will eventually result in less people contributing to mommy's and daddy's Social Security checks. (Can you tell that I have been working on the taxes?)

A brief article is under this link. The full study is here.

Easter

Easter ended up being quite exciting. It started with egg coloring early in the week. Then grandma and grandpa arrived on Thursday. There were egg hunts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I am not sure which filling Bradley likes more in his eggs: chocolate or money. On Sunday, we went to lunch and celebrated the other grandma's birthday. With so much going on, a few pictures posted to the blog is insufficient. Here is a whole slide show.

So Close

Little Benny is so close to being able to stand up on his own. I gave him a little boost to get him up on the fireplace. Even though he can't stand up on his own, he can sidle. In this picture, he started out at the far end of the fireplace and made it about 1/2 way.

We Need a Ruling from the Judges

We didn't celebrate Ben's 9 month birthday at Heaven on Seven. But, then again, there was no 30th in the month of February. So the question is, "Is the streak ended?" Since we hadn't been to restaurant in so long, we went on Saturday. One streak that lives on is that we always get the worst table in the house, right next to the bar.

Take Time for Tots

The weather has been improving this week, but wasn't nice enough to play outside today. Therefore, we played inside at the Take Time for Tots. Ben played in the swing and Bradley made a nice lei, did art on an old record turn table and petted the ponies. We also learned about train safety and talked to a police officer. Ronald McDonald was roaming the building, but we managed to dodge him. Bradley had an adverse reaction to the clown last year.

Lots of Firsts

Everyone in the family has had a first this weekend.

Bradley - first oil change. He waited patiently while the dealer changed the oil. We had time to look at all the shiny new cars. Bradley made a careful inspection of the cargo capacity of the Ridgeline, CRV, Odyssey, Pilot, and Element models.
Ben - first Baby Einstein. Bradley monopolizes the DVD player so much, it wasn't until now that Ben got a turn.
Mom - first full night sleep in at least two weeks, probably longer. Ben and Bradley both slept through the night on Saturday and that means so did mommy.
Dad - first bout of the flu. It is not pleasant. It is like a cold, but with a triple dose of soul crush. The good news is that he is almost over it. The bad news is that he missed the triathlon on Sunday.

The Twooth

Ben's second tooth arrived on the scene this week. We were finally able to get a picture of his teeth. His tongue usually gets in the way, but mommy lucked out today.

Ear Infection

Poppy came over to watch Bradley when he was sick. He got more than he bargained for:

Doctor's office call to confirm ear infection $95

Prescription drugs to treat ear infection $75

Opportunity to spend day with Bradley Priceless
